Dr Andy WilliamsBVMS GPCert(Cardio) GPCert(SAS) MRCVS

Clinic Director

I am a graduate of Glasgow Veterinary School with a degree in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery. Following further formal study and examination by the European School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies I was awarded The General Practitioner’s Certificate in Small Animal Surgery in 2010. I recently returned to my love of studying and in 2017 following examination achieved The General Practitioner’s Certificate in Cardiology. My job as a Veterinary Surgeon is fun, challenging, and extremely interesting. I practice holistic veterinary medicine, this means that I like to look at the 'whole animal' including their diet, lifestyle and emotional well-being, as opposed to just focusing in on the disease or injury alone. I love my career as a Veterinary Surgeon and the ability it gives me to always be developing new skills and constantly learning. My main areas of clinical interest include endoscopic procedures and surgery; and cardiology (the study of the heart and lung systems). I also run The Clinic's Veterinary Acupuncture service and am a member of the Association of British Veterinary Acupuncturists. I live in Reading with my wife Rebecca, sons...

Dr Sarah MolierBVM&S BSc MRCVS

Associate Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from Edinburgh University with a degree in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery in 2009. Since graduating I have worked in an independent multi-site small animal practice, worked as a Locum and volunteered at the PDSA. I am proud to have been a member of the Shinfield Vets team since January 2014. I am currently working towards a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice. I am passionate about all aspects of my vocation; including medical cases, soft tissue surgery, end of life care, preventative therapeutics (looking at the whole picture and using lifestyle / diet / environment to try to optimise health rather than waiting to treat a disease that may arise). I live with my husband James, our son and daughter Joshua and Lily and our Labrador and Border Collie Nero and Dylan (needless to say both rescues!).

Dr Claire RoyallBVSc MRCVS

Associate Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from The University of Bristol in 2008 with a degree in Veterinary Science. My first job was at a small animal practice in Worcestershire where I spent three years. I then took some time out to go travelling. After returning to the UK I worked as a locum at a number of small animal practices. I have now returned to my home town of Wokingham and I started working at Shinfield Vets in 2014. Clinically my main interest is soft tissue surgery. Soft tissue surgery includes neutering, removing lumps and exploring the abdomen to aid diagnosis of disease or to remove objects which shouldn’t have been swallowed (eg stones and socks). I also enjoy treating small mammals (such as rabbits and guinea pigs) and dental treatments for cats and dogs, which includes cleaning to teeth to keep them healthy and removing them if they are rotten. Outside work my interests include travelling, photography, horse riding and swimming.

Dr Maria CisnerosMRCVS

Associate Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated as a vet in Madrid, Spain, in 2006. After qualifying I worked in Madrid for 3 years until my drive to explore new places and further my skills brought me to the UK, looking for a new challenge. I completed a rotational Internship at the VRCC (one of the most important Referral Centres for Oncology in UK) and then I returned to general practice as I thrive being able to both perform surgeries and also be challenged with a variety of cases. I joined Shinfield Road Vets in December 2015. I am fully enjoying my job here as I love dealing with people and animals and being able to offer the higher level of care. I enjoy all aspects of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery but I have a particular interest in Ophthalmology, discipline in which I am currently studying towards a Postgraduate Certificate. I believe eyes are a mirror of the soul and I find amazing looking at our companion eyes and being able to diagnose not only ocular conditions but also signs of systemic disorders. On my spare time I enjoy hiking and walking and playing with my very active yet adorable border collie, Laika.

Dr Isabel JohansonBVSc MRCVS

Associate Veterinary Surgeon

Following graduation as a Veterinary Surgeon from the University of Liverpool, I spent time volunteering at an animal hospital in the Caribbean, working to neuter dogs and cats and help control the stray population size and working to improve animal welfare. I then returned to a job in mixed practice before deciding to concentrate on small animals and joining Shinfield Vets. I enjoy all aspects of my job but I’m particularly interest in anaesthesia and also in problem solving medical cases. Originally from Shropshire but now living in Reading I look forward to time outside of work, where I enjoy visiting my family in Shropshire, also home to my bouncy Wheaten Terrier, Florin, and our small flock of adopted sheep!

Head Veterinary Nurse

I qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2005 and joined Shinfield vets in 2011. I have enjoyed an exciting career including 2 years spent as a local dog warden helping to collect and rehome local stray dogs. I have always been passionate about animal welfare and I have raised large amounts of money over the years for various animal charities through sponsored runs, hikes and parachute jumps. I enjoy all aspects of nursing but I have a particular interest in feline medicine and have been studying for the last 2.5 years for my Diploma in feline nursing in which I have just completed. In my spare time I enjoy keeping fit through a variety of group fitness classes and running. I have a passion for travelling and have been fortunate enough to visit many amazing places including Thailand, Malaysia, Dubai, Peru and Colombia to name a few. I am a certified open water diver and a keen skier and snowboarder. I currently live in Thatcham with my partner and my rescue cat Mister Meowington

Katy GarlickBScVN RVN

Deputy Head Veterinary Nurse

After graduating from the Royal Veterinary College in 2013 I returned to my home town of Reading and joined the team at Shinfield Vets. I have always enjoyed the company of animals and my two cats, Tiger and Koko, are certainly part of the family. Many owners have the same family bond with their pets, so I constantly aspire to improve the nursing care we provide, as I would expect nothing less for my own boys. Since graduating I have completed numerous courses to improve my skills, most recently I gained a British Veterinary Nursing Association Certificate in Veterinary Nursing Wound Management and before this a rabbit awareness course supported by the RAWF association. I also have a particular interest in the public image and advancement of the nursing profession and have published research on the subject. Outside of work I volunteer as an Assistant Scout leader in the local area, working hard to provide young people with opportunities and activities which they may not have otherwise. Most of all I look forward to time away with my family, we frequently escape the busy life of Reading to Swanage in Dorset, our much loved second home.

Chrissy BruceRVN

Senior Veterinary Nurse

Having always wanted to work with animals from a young age, I joined Shinfield Vets in 2010 as part of my work experience and have since qualified from Middlesex University in 2015 with a first class BSc Hons degree in Veterinary Nursing. I have also recently become a clinical coach and find it extremely rewarding to be able to pass on the skills I have learnt to our students. I find all aspects of nursing enjoyable but have a particular interest in surgical nursing. I have undertaken a course in small animal anaesthesia and I am hoping to complete an emergency and critical care course in the near future as I am eager to further my knowledge in this area. Outside of work I am a member of the Reading and District netball league and enjoy playing in tournaments at the weekend. At home I have a mischievous cat called Tilly, who was brought into the practice as a stray at only a couple of days old. Since then my passion has grown and I have spent many sleepless nights’ hand-rearing kittens!

Amanda YeungRVN

Registered Veterinary Nurse

I joined Shinfield Vets in April 2016 having worked as a qualified nurse for many years. I have always wanted to work with animals from a young age and began my training at MYF College in 2003 and qualified in 2006. Prior to becoming a veterinary nurse, I was an administrator for a media company in London for 3 years. I enjoy all aspects of nursing such as monitoring anaesthetic, looking after inpatients or nurse clinics. However, I do have a particular interest in ‘Wound Management’ and passed this course last year. It has been great to apply the knowledge in practice. This year, I am planning to complete a course in diabetes and to further my knowledge in anaesthesia which is a crucial part in a nurse’s role. I live with my husband in Hermitage, my 9 year old daughter, a rescue cat called Marmite and a mischievous hamster called Razar. Whilst not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, going to the cinema and listening to 80’s music.

What They Say

Brenda Booth

Over the last 35 years we have had various cats, dogs and horses. Wherever we have lived we have always found a good veterinary practice and stayed with it. Shinfield Vets is a good practice, a very good practice!

Heather Farr

A wonderful veterinary surgery who look after my cats. Really friendly, professional and helpful. Andy, Claire and the team have given my male cat a new lease of life - they genuinely care about the animals they treat. Would not take my pets anywhere else!

Natalie Greenstreet

Shinfield Vets are the most awesome vets in Berkshire. Every single member of the team are hardworking, friendly and 100% professional – from the reception team who offer outstanding customer service to the veterinary team who show unquestionable knowledge and experience. I wouldn’t take my pets anywhere else – I have complete trust and confidence in the team. I love the opening hours – which enable me to make appointments first thing in the morning, late in the evening and even on Sundays! That’s exactly the pragmatic approach that makes working with Shinfield Vets easy and stress free. Great team – 5* really isn’t enough!

Nora Stevens

I first visited Shinfield Vets in 2011 after Andy was recommended to me. It is wonderful to have vets who take time to know and really care about your pet when you take them for a visit. Andy and all his staff are so caring and helpful and give what appears to me to be a personal service. On a few occasions I have called when my pet was poorly and required advice and I just felt I was getting a personal service. I have recommended Shinfield Vets to friends who have also gone to them and like me are really happy with the care they receive. I would definitely recommend Shinfield Vets if you want real care and a lovely friendly atmosphere with a consistency in the care that is offered

Vicky Robson

I have been using Shinfield Road vets for my two cats since 2011. As my cats have bad teeth and one has a bad ear I am in with them a couple of times a year for check-ups. To start with - what great opening hours. Weekend appointments at no extra cost and weekday hours that allow for post work visits!! I have always felt that I am given honest advice and never oversold unnecessary treatment. I trust all the staff with the care of my animals. The staff are clearly pet lovers and really treat the animals with respect and kindness. Would never chose to take my fluff balls anywhere else

Tracey Ann Parsons

If you want a vets that is truly diligent and operate a fantastic 7 days a week including bank holidays, then go no further than Andy Williams' independent veterinary practice.. Our three dogs are brilliantly cared for by all the staff and what makes this practice so much better than any of the other local one's ( and we have been registered with quite a few of them over the years) is that they can provide comprehensive care with a vast array of investigations without having to always travel miles to individual specialists, unless it is absolutely necessary.

Belinda Handy

Every time I go along to Shinfield Vets I feel really looked after. Everything is always explained so clearly, I feel my pets are very well looked after. My Westie has had the up most care given to her with Andy always considering the cost involved. Such a great caring team. I would highly recommend this practice

Heidi Alder

I am very happy with the service provided by Andy and his team. I take my five Border Collies to see Andy he is very thorough and takes his time to get to the cause of the problem and offers the best option to my dogs. I would highly recommend using this veterinary practice as they are very reliable and friendly, also they provide a seven day service .

Linda Christmas

Shinfield Vets has to be the absolute best in the area. We have used them throughout some pretty emotional times with regards our precious Labrador and all the vets are outstanding. They really care both for your pet and for you when there are difficult decisions to make. Sarah has followed up with me many times out of hours and has been a patient, supportive and caring vet at all times. I can not recommend them highly enough

Lisa Fiske

By far the best vets in the area. Their priority is always the welfare of the animal. Friendly, helpful & always explain things clearly. I've spent quite a bit of time there this year with various pets & wouldn't think about going anywhere else. Andy & his staff are the best!
