I am one of the longest serving staff members of the surgery, which gives an indication of my dedication and enjoyment of the work I do here. Over many years I have taken on various roles, both in the animal care through to being the current Practice Manager. I am focussed on developing and maintaining good client relationships and understand that good communication is vital. I am also well motivated and enjoy the daily challenges of a busy small animal practice.
To help develop my management skills and to keep current, I am studying towards the nationally recognised Certificate in Veterinary Practice Management (CVPM). I use my experience and academic knowledge to support the surgery team that aims to provide excellence, both in the provision of treatment for animals brought to us and in the quality of client care. I have, over time, built a good relationship with local charities and continue to be a point of contact within the surgery for treatment of animals brought to us by them.
I see my future at Shinfield Vets being able to help keep the practice running smoothly on both a day-to-day basis and from a more strategic sense, to ensure we are prepared for the future and operate using best practice. It is also my intention to maintain my currency through appropriate study, courses and seminars where appropriate.
On a more personal note, there have been so many animals I’ve wanted to take home but I realise it is not possible, and so I have resisted the temptation but for Ralph, a challenging rescued French Bulldog, and a rescue cat named Bella, who we are working on to improve her social skills, that I am sure the surgery’s nursing team will be pleased to hear.
At home I am helping with an extension which my fiancé Barry is self-building. I also love spending time with my two sons and daughter who keep me on my toes
