Freya Hewes

I became a part of the team as a kennel assistant at Shinfield vets in August 2022 after completing my A-levels. I successfully gained 3 A-levels in media, psychology and medical science at Farnborough sixth form college. During my time at college, I worked part time at a country park, I took on a variety of roles and helped families to have memorable days out. However, after completing work experience at a local vet and having a real passion for animals I knew I wanted to pursue a career in veterinary nursing. 

Since I was young, I’ve had a variety of pets including fish, hamsters, Guinea pigs and dogs. As well as helping to look after friend's reptiles, horses and calves at a dairy farm. I currently have a Guinea pig called teddy which I adopted from a local rescue centre, and hope to adopt more in the future. I also have two cockapoo’s, Bentley who is 10 and Cooper who is 2. Spending time with all of these different animals has grown my interest in animal care and made me realise this is a path I would love to follow. 

Outside of work, I enjoy exercising by going to the gym with my friends and taking my dogs on country walks with my family. I’m excited to learn more and to extend my knowledge for a successful career in veterinary nursing here at Shinfield vets.
