Positive Pawprint Partner

Shinfield Vets are dedicated to improving standards of sustainability in the practice.

Shinfield Vets is now a Positive Pawprint Partner!

The Positive Pawprint Strategy is a comprehensive approach working towards improving standards of sustainability in our practice. This strategy is separated into 3 basic sections: Caring for People, Caring for the Planet and Caring for Pets.

What does this mean?

In order for Shinfield Vets to become a Positive Pawprint Partner, we identified all the areas in which we could reduce our environmental impact and improve what we do for our people, pets and planet. You can view our key initiatives and sustainability efforts below.

  • Caring for people
  • Caring for pets
  • Caring for the planet

Caring for people

  • Regular clinical team meetings to review cases and discuss learnings
  • Regular staff team building activities
  • We have 2 staff members fully trained as Mental Health First Aiders
  • We provide a relaxing environment for staff members to use during their breaks
  • Established links with local animal rescues
  • Providing regular veterinary services for animal welfare charities and stray/wild animals

Caring for pets

  • An appointed  Antibiotic Steward - responsible for ensuring antibiotics are used correctly and not excessively to help in the global fight against antibiotic resistance
  • Clinical teams undertake regular training on a variety of subjects to continually improve their knowledge and provide better care for all our patients
  • Currently working towards numerous awards - The Dog Friendly Clinic and Cat Friendly Clinic awards along with Rabbit friendly status.
  • Classical music provided in the kennel environment to help relieve stress - especially for cats
  • Fresh herbs and grass available for Rabbit patients
  • A new bench coming soon for owners and nervous patients to sit on outside the practice
  • Nurse led weight clinics and nutritional clinics offered to all patients

Caring for the planet
