Sophie Flood

I’ve always wanted to work with animals from a young age and have always had a passion to look after them. I joined Shinfield Vets in January 2020 as a Kennel Assistant, as I was lucky to be given the opportunity to start my animal career. After two years of gaining experience I started my journey as a student veterinary nurse.

I had previously done work experience in another Veterinary practice, so knew this was always something I wanted to do, as I thoroughly enjoy caring for animals. I quickly realised that there is no job better than ensuring that animals are happy and healthy. Other than my current job, I have worked in customer service for 4 years and enjoy making sure clients receive the best experience.

I have a cat of my own called Chester; he is a big tabby cat and is very fond of food and my family definitely spoil him. After losing his little sister that I adopted from here he seems to have become a very loud and needy cat, taking on the role that his sister once had. Although this has made him a little bit larger.

Outside of work, I play in the Reading Netball social league several nights a week and occasionally venture to the gym. I also love spending time with my friends and my partner, going on spontaneous adventures and exploring areas of the world I haven’t been to as I love travelling and driving to new places.
